Botanising in Huntingdonshire, Yorkshire and Beyond

I am the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI) Vice-County Recorder for Huntingdonshire (VC31) and Mid-West Yorkshire (VC64). I've set-up this botany blog to more readily share news on recent wildflower discoveries made by myself and others, to encourage wider recording, and as a way to challenge myself to take more photographs of the plants I find. Caucasian Comfrey New for Huntingdonshire

A productive day in the south of the county, with more news to follow. However, first off here is a new comfrey for the VC - Caucasian Comfrey (Symphytum caucasicum). A fine large stand of this garden escape is present on a roadside bank in Waresley village. This has to be the most attractive comfrey species, but beauty comes at a price as it is really invasive. That said, when I found it new to VC64 I could not resist a cutting for my garden BUT I definitely selected where to plant it with great care!
